Mayflower Gulch Snowshoe Trip

After six years Steve and I finally made it back out to snowshoe in the high country. Chelby came to babysit for the day and we were off. The only bummer was we ran into an accident on I-70 and it took us 2.5 hours to make it to our destination instead of the expected 1.5 hours. Just 5.5 miles past Copper Mountain Ski area we found the parking area on the left just like the guide book said. The trail was a bit packed from a lot of traffice and we probably could have forgone the snowshoes, but I new we'd find fresh powder somewhere along the way. The weather was blissfull - 30+ degrees, sunny, barely any wind, and fresh snow. We couldn't have asked for a better day. After snowshoeing for a couple hours we headed back down to Frisco and got some lunch at the Backcountry Brewery and then headed back down the hill. What a fabulous day spent together without the kiddos. I couldn't believe how quiet the car ride was, I was actually able to nod off for a few winks on the ride back.

A glimpse of what was to come.

100 Days

Matthew's pre-school is celebrating 100 days of school on Friday. We had fun making a project in commemoration of the day.

Focused Fun

We enjoyed an afternoon of fun in Colorado Springs with the Plasterers. We went to Focus on the Family to play in their kid's area.

Lunch at Wit's End Soda Shoppe

Arrrrrgh!! I'm not sure who was the winner in this fight!

Tyler and Lexi - aren't they just so cute!!!!

Chronicles of Narnia room. The kids walked through a real wardrobe to get to the back room to see Aslan on the wall.

Wrestle mania.

A moment of quiet - watching an Adventures in Odyssey film.

Matthew preferred bouldering around on the walls instead of watching the movie.

Denver Zoo

We decided to attempt the Free Day at the Denver Zoo on MLK day. It was crowded, but we had lots of fun. Matthew and Tyler both loved the snakes and fish. Tyler loved the peacocks. He kept saying with much enthusiasm and excitement "there's another one!"

Mr. Mongoose
Matthew studying the map for our next destination.

Mr. Python - of course the boys liked the really scary snakes like Vipers, Pythons, and Cobras.

Really cool crocodiles keeping each other warm in the water. Or were they trying to climb out to get us?!?!

Climing on a giant hippopotamus statue.

Climbing Rocks

Steve has been on vacation for the last week and has really been enjoying the time off. He's also been productive - he installed 7 new recessed can lights in our living room. It's a big improvement and he did a very professional job. Thanks Darlin'!

So after being inside for too many days with sickness, holiday festivities, projects, and cleaning we HAD to get outside. We headed to the hills to one of our favorite places to hike - Falcon Park. The forecast calls for a 60 degree day. The boys and I climbed on as many rocks as we could and found lots of great stick guns. Oh, and no, Matthew is not wearing a dress. We managed to get out of the house with only a light sweatshirt for Matthew so he ended up wearing my vest.

My Little Shavers

We got the boys toy shaving kits for Christmas. They are having a blast imitating Daddy.
