Go Fish!

We were invited to attend a kids concert held at Denver First Church today by our good friends Scott and Lynn. Matthew had a great time dancing to the music and playing with his glow stick. The group is called Go Fish. Their tag line is "great music for kis that won't drive parents bonkers". I gotta say I think they accomplished their goal. I really enjoyed the concert.

For your listening pleasure here is a sample of what I'm sure will be Matthew's favorite song Super Hero.

Berry Patch Farms

Steve was busy doing a side electrical job today so I took the kids to "Berry Patch Farms" in Thornton. It's a great little farm near the Platte River with lots of u-pick produce. If the fall they have Country Harvest Days each Saturday in October.
The boys got to go on a hay ride and go through a hay bale maze. Matthew picked his own pumpkin and got his face painted, and Tyler was happy as a clam playing in the dirt! Plus, we saw Alpacas, turkeys, chickens, and kitties. What a day!

Uh oh, Walking!!!

Tyler has been very busy of late! He has cut teeth numbers 9 and 10 (lower molars), started walking, and learned to say "uh oh" all in the same week! He took his first unaided steps Sept. 30th and was soooo proud of himself. He has been practicing ever since and started walking in earnest on Friday. I think it helps that there is a little girl in his daycare that started walking last week and he doesn't want to be shown up by a girl!

His vocabulary now includes mommy, dada, uh oh, and ba (translated as bottle). Of course it only takes a good screech to get attention otherwise.

It's so fun to watch them both grow and learn - they are such little sponges.

Cracked Pot

A fellow MOPS Mom shared this little story....

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck. One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.

After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream. 'I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house.' The old woman smiled, 'Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?' 'That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them.' 'For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. 'Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house.'

Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.

SO, to all of my crackpot friends, have a great day and remember to smell the flowers on your side of the path!

Cider Days

Last weekend we took the boys to "Cider Days" in Lakewood. Matthew had a blast on the jumping balloon, mini merry-go-round, and tractor ride. We also got to watch some of the tractor pull, see a lumber cutting exhibit and lots of old cars - great reminders of Maine.
