Silly Boys

The boys love to get naked. After a busy morning of running around the house naked Tyler fell asleep on the couch before I could get lunch into him. I couldn't resist taking this photo.

Tyler loves to talk on the phone. He asks almost every day if he can call Grandma and Grandpa.

Matthew decided to take his nap in his sleeping bag on the floor.

Tyler decided to get "handsome" and wanted to blow dry his hair all by himself.

Time for a book! He comes up with the greatest stories to go along with the pictures.

Playdough Pizza

Matthew's teacher gave us a recipe for homemade playdough. So we got all the ingredients and mixed up a batch. We'll have to use a different color of kool-aid next time, but the pink made for some good pepperoni for their pizzas.

Sweet Tyler boy was looking a bit shaggy. Just a quivering bottom lip betrayed his brave front while I cut his hair. He sure is cute!

Birthday Bliss

Yup, I turned 38!!! I decided to continue my tradition of making myself a homemade birthday cake. This year I wanted carrot cake. We celebrated with a picnic at the park (72 degrees in Denver), threw rocks in the creek and walked home to have cake. I couldn't have celebrated with a better bunch!

March 3, 2009 - Steve was on a trip to Green Bay, WI to see friends Doug and Sherilyn Zerbsts. While he was away I decided to paint the living room. I got 2 out of 3 walls painted and added some new decor. I found this quote on Etsy. Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured. I like that!

Baby Delaney

Tyler and I went to visit our good friends the Whites to see the new baby. Tyler LOVES babies so he was very excited for the visit. Ashlyn and Tyler had lots of fun playing and I got to hold a two week old baby. Congrats Blair, Heather, Ashlyn and Delaney!

Bike Boys

February 16, 2009 - A beautiful day beckoned us outside to ride bikes in the cul-de-sac. They both had lots of fun. Matthew is still getting used to his big boy bike.

Denver Museum of Nature and Science

Way back on February 2 we went to the Free Day at the Denver Msueum of Nature and Science. The boys had a blast. I was surprised how fascinated Matthew was with the space exhibit. He would gladly have stayed in there for the whole visit. We definitely need to get back there.

They wouldn't let me stay in the large animal rooms. They were kind of bored. So we moved right along to the Discovery Room.

Matthew loved, loved, loved the science experiments on atmospheric pressure. The presenter was explaining why Astronauts have to wear space suits. He put a marshmallow, then a cup of water, and then a snack cake inside the dome and removed all the air with a suction tube hooked to a electric pump. It was fun to see Matthew's attention so completely captured by what happened. Matthew even suggested some experiments to try and the presenter enthusiastically tried them - so fun to watch.

Prehistoric journey was the last stop. Matthew liked the dinasaur egg.

And the visit woulnd't have been complete without seeing T-Rex!!

Mayflower Gulch Snowshoe Trip

After six years Steve and I finally made it back out to snowshoe in the high country. Chelby came to babysit for the day and we were off. The only bummer was we ran into an accident on I-70 and it took us 2.5 hours to make it to our destination instead of the expected 1.5 hours. Just 5.5 miles past Copper Mountain Ski area we found the parking area on the left just like the guide book said. The trail was a bit packed from a lot of traffice and we probably could have forgone the snowshoes, but I new we'd find fresh powder somewhere along the way. The weather was blissfull - 30+ degrees, sunny, barely any wind, and fresh snow. We couldn't have asked for a better day. After snowshoeing for a couple hours we headed back down to Frisco and got some lunch at the Backcountry Brewery and then headed back down the hill. What a fabulous day spent together without the kiddos. I couldn't believe how quiet the car ride was, I was actually able to nod off for a few winks on the ride back.
